REPAIR TOOLS
1. Philip screw driver: also known as star
screw driver, I believe you know it. Its likely the most common screw driver in
Nigeria.
It has both big size and small size – get the small size. The big size is for
desktop repair.
2. Paint brush: like the name sounds, it’s
the normal brush use for painting purposes. It varies in sizes, since we are
talking about laptop repair; look for a small/average size.
3. Soldering iron (with led): this is
needed for the purpose of joining back any disconnected component. But
honestly, you may hardly make use of it.
4. Multi tester voltage meter reader:
commonly used by electricians, you may needed to taste for power/current flow
5. Soft wares: as an engineer, its very
necessary to have some personal software for installation purposes. The primary
ones you should have are: bootable CD (e.g. windox xp, 2000, etc). a good antivirus CD (e.g. panda, Norton,
etc). Microsoft office CD (containing MS
Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc). media player CD (e.g. power DVD, video CD, Audio
player, etc ).
6. USB external hard disk drive
case/enclosure: its very
recommended, you will need it to transfer files from one hard disk to another
before doing a fresh installation/formatting.
7. Precision tool kit: this is also an
electrical tool, its also not very compulsory because you may not make use of
it any day. But some repairers make use of it. Like you see on the diagram
above, it’s a set of tools – various sizes, you may want to just experiment
them while trying to remove one screw or the order.
